I know, I know. Its all my fault for buying it for them. But they have been asking for weeks and we had saved Sam's birthday money to buy just the perfect thing. So after they were good girls getting their pictures taken, I broke down and bought them the greatest/worst invention ever. Moonsand! We did have fun making castles and shapes and all, but what was I thinking bringing a SANDBOX into the house. Like they can keep it contained to that little blowup sandbox. Especially SAM! She was shoveling it...flinging it EVERYWHERE. Lucky for them I am a sucker for fun.
Today whilst watching the precious little ones, I was cleaning the sty I call my children's home. The girls were really trying to help by sweeping around the piles of kitchen dust I was about to sweep up, or moving around toys from the couch to the floor. They really were trying to help. So while answering a business call, Maya came up to me so proud and said "I cleaned the toilet!"
I quickly ended my call, because no matter how she did it, it can't be good. I asked for the exact blow by blow of how she did it, what she used, etc. without making her feel like she was getting into trouble for helping. She showed me how she scrubbed the toilet with the toilet brush, inside and out, then wiped it off with these "rags". These rags...my face cloths. I am so compulsive about certain things. The only thing these washcloths have touched is my face. Guess its time for some new ones.
Hehehe...Why does it crack me up every time??? Actually, it is a bone "healer" which sends ultrasonic pulses to my injured foot for 20 minutes twice a day to stimulate bone growth. When they were explaining how it stimulates bone, how could I NOT go THERE! The first thing I did when I got home was look through the manual for warning labels of where NOT to put it. I guess no idiot has put it on his schlong yet because there was no warning not to. It doesn't help that it comes with 2 huge jars of lube. hehehe
I was a bit concerned when the machine rep. was explaining everything, he said "don't freak out when you get the bill. Don't freak out if your insurance company rejects payment." He was a cool guy so I asked "how do you KNOW me??? How would you know I would freak out?" He said that most people do freak out because it takes awhile for the insurance companies to cover the $3 thousand dollars for my machine". Three fucking thousand!?!?! I guess I just assumed that I would be renting a machine when they first mentioned it. So if you ever need to stimulate some bone, you know where to go...ahhh yeeeaaahhh
Lately, I have been down. More than just down but borderline depressed...and I don't get depressed. I've been smack dab in the middle of a really tough week In the middle of a couple of hard years. I got bad news on top of bad new on top of the worst two years of my life thus far. I have just felt lately that if something else bad happens...I don't think I can take it.
Then I do this delivery today. Lori was suppose to take it, but it worked out that I was going that way and took it myself. It was to Sacred Heart. Children's Hospital. Oncology wing. I find the room and am greeted by 2 healthy little boys sitting on a chair in the room, watching TV. They said "you can put it over there with the rest of them". There was pizza boxes and cups and plates and....they were "living" in this room. But I was so distracted by the crying that was coming from the bathroom. It was obviously a pained child crying and the Mom was helping this child in there. I put my arrangement next to the unopened cookie bouquet and try to exit gracefully. The door to the bathroom started to open, sort of trapping me behind it. So I had to wait. I had to wait for my new perspective to smack me in the face. Mom cradles this 6 yr old girl sobbing, crying in severe pain. I exited as fast as I could, before I started to cry.
Within seconds, my poor shitty little tiny problems didn't seem to matter much. So what if I've had a tough year. So what if our car engine seized and now were down to one car. Who cares if I got stuck in a ditch in the van because of the icy roads. At least I, and my loved ones have their health. I wanted to blog about it so that every time I happen to feel a little sorry for myself or feel overwhelmed, I can get a new perspective.
What's the worst new television show to premiere this season?
Maybe it's just me, but I don't get why this show is funny at all. How do you go from a "creative" commercial to a show with a whole storyline. I just can't see how it will last. I watched it for 20 minutes and didn't laugh once. I know the selling point is that its different from any other show. That's for sure...nothing sucks THIS bad.
Why don't you just kill me now? Is there anything in the world that ISN'T bad for you?????? Come on...how can it be???

Consumers, not just factory workers, may be in danger from fumes from buttery flavoring in microwave popcorn, according to a warning letter to federal regulators from a doctor at a leading lung research hospital.
A pulmonary specialist at Denver's National Jewish Medical and Research Center has written to federal agencies to say doctors there believe they have the first case of a consumer who developed lung disease from the fumes of microwaving popcorn several times a day for years.
"We cannot be sure that this patient's exposure to butter flavored microwave popcorn from daily heavy preparation has caused his lung disease," cautioned Dr. Cecile Rose. "However, we have no other plausible explanation."
The July letter, made public Tuesday by a public health policy blog, refers to a potentially fatal disease commonly called popcorn lung that has been the subject of lawsuits by hundreds of workers at food factories exposed to chemicals used for flavoring.
In response to Rose's finding, the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association issued a statement Tuesday recommending that its members reduce "to the extent possible" the amount of diacetyl in butter flavorings they make. It noted that diacetyl is approved for use in flavors by the federal Food and Drug Administration.
One national popcorn manufacturer, Weaver Popcorn Co. of Indianapolis, said last week it would replace the butter flavoring ingredient because of consumer concern. Congress has also been debating new safety measures for workers in food processing plants exposed to diacetyl.
The FDA said in an e-mail it is evaluating Rose's letter and "carefully considering the safety and regulatory issues it raises."
Fred Blosser, spokesman for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, said it is the first case the institute has seen of lung disease apparently linked to popcorn fumes outside the workplace.
The occupational safety arm of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it is working on a response to the letter.
William Allstetter, spokesman for National Jewish Medical, confirmed the letter was sent by Rose, a specialist in occupational and environmental lung diseases and director of the hospital's Occupational and Environmental Medicine Clinic.
"There have been no other cases that we know of other than the industrial occupational ones," Allstetter said.
Rose acknowledged in the letter that it is difficult to confirm through one case that popping buttered microwave popcorn at home can cause lung disease.
However, she said she wanted to alert regulators of the potential public health implications.
Rose said the ailing patient, a man whom she wouldn't identify, consumed "several bags of extra butter flavored microwave popcorn" every day for several years.
He described progressively worsening respiratory symptoms of coughing and shortness of breath. Tests found his ability to exhale was deteriorating, Rose said, although his condition seemed to stabilize after he quit using microwave popcorn.
She said her staff measured airborne levels of diacetyl in the patient's home when he cooked the popcorn. The levels were "similar to those reported in the microwave oven exhaust area" at the quality assurance unit of the popcorn plant where the affected employees worked, she said.
David Michaels, of the George Washington University School of Public Health, who first published Rose's letter on his blog, The Pump Handle, said the finding is another reason for federal regulators to crack down on diacetyl exposure by workers and consumers.
"This letter is a red flag, suggesting that exposure to food flavor chemicals is not just killing workers, but may also be causing disease in people exposed to food flavor chemicals in their kitchens," Michaels wrote on his public health policy blog.
